DISCUSSION #1 : HOW DO YOU MAKE YOURSELF VISIBLE AS AN ARTIST?

A important question Intersection Project asks is
how do we make ourselves visible as artists?

We wish for audiences to meet us for our performances, projects, and events, but if they don't show, how can we connect?

What can we do to meet the audience half way?

Here are three projects which have used urban spaces to make their work more visible.

If you come across more great projects please feel free to post!

IMPROV EVERYWHERE
Improv Everywhere causes scenes of chaos and joy in public places. Created in August of 2001 by Charlie Todd, Improv Everywhere has executed over 100 missions involving tens of thousands of undercover agents. The group is based in New York City.
Dancer Ziyian Kwan's final Sunday grassroots arts protest outside the Gene Cafe at the corner of Main Street and Kingsway attracted some high-profile talent.
Choreographers Tara Cheyenne Friedenberg, Laura Hicks, and Alvin Erasga-Tolentino showed up, along with several other dancers, including Caroline Farquhar and Kim Tuson.
Musician Peggy Lee and filmmaker Peg Campbell were there as well.
Sitting quietly off to the side near Lee was Kwan's proud father, L.H. Kwan.
Kwan said that next weekend, she will hold a "dance busk protest" outside the Vancouver International Airport before leaving for Regina.
There, she will perform with Robin Poitras. Later in the fall, she'll work again with Poitras, as well as with Edward Poitras and Bruce LaBruce.
